As a recruitment agency that only recruits exclusively all things data, it is our responsibility to do everything we can to understand the roles that sit in data, how organisations use data and how data teams are structured within organisations we work for.
Over the coming month, we will be breaking down some key roles that sit within data teams across the organisations we work with – focusing on the role of a Data Architect | Data Engineer | Data Analyst | Data Scientist.
In considering these data roles, what we have found is that while many organisations will call them the same job title, when you review the responsibilities and outcomes of some of these data roles, they do not always translate the same. It is for this reason that we have tried to keep our understanding of each job and what they do, based on our own experiences of recruiting talent in these areas.
Data is fascinating and can be used by organizations to achieve and understand so many things. Think about it, data can help organisations to:
- Drive process and cost efficiencies
- Drive strategy and change
- Monitor and improve financial performance
- Manage how current product and services are used
- To manage risk
- To attain and retain customer
With all this in mind it is still surprising that for many organisations, the understanding of data roles and the overall data function still remains relatively immature.
Data is here to stay. It is the future of how organisations will remain competitive and relevant. Data professionals and the need for talent in this area will only continue to grow so understanding data roles and responsibilities they play within data teams is important.
