Data Architect ……According to Konnexus

Data Architects are hard to find.

They look holistically at an organisations information – they identify the models, procedures, policies and the technologies that the organisation will use to collect, organise, store and access the information of an organisation.

In order to do this they need to be very competent in  the collection and storage of data in large amounts.

Because they have such a strong knowledge of data this allows them to create data structures which can then be used across the whole organisation.

Data architects design the vision and blueprint of the organisations data framework.

In order to do this role, they will need to know:

  • A variety of programming languages and advanced technologies associated with big data, artificial intelligence, internet of things (IoT) and the cloud
  • They understand all phases of data modeling, including conceptualization and data optimization
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential as well as being able to demonstrate acute business acumen
  • Data Architects have an aptitude for mathematics and solving complex problems

As a minimum Data Architects will hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field.  The subjects they will learn will cover data management,  programming, big data developments, systems analysis and technology architectures.
