Dr Maruf Hossain, PhD, GAICD, is the Chief AI Strategist at 42Consulting.AI with over 18 years of experience in production-grade AI, including LLM, agentic, and machine learning systems at enterprise scale. Recognised as a 2024 Global Top 100 Innovator in Data & Analytics, he works across regulated financial services environments, advising boards, chief risk officers, and technology executives on AI governance and strategy. He holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning) and the Graduate Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) designation. Most recently, Vice President of Data Science & AI at ANZ Bank, Dr Hossain has also held key positions such as Head of Data Science at Credit Clear and Chief Data Scientist for Telstra Global Enterprise and Services at Infosys Consulting. His extensive experience includes leading multiple data science projects for the Australian Government and establishing the data science practice for IBM Australia Global Business Services, where he developed and delivered training and mentoring programs.
Dr Hossain is highly skilled in a range of machine learning and data mining techniques, driven by a passion for applying and extending these technologies to solve complex business problems. One of his most notable achievements was leading the Australian Crime Commission to seize over $580 million from drug trafficking syndicates. Additionally, Dr Hossain has expertise in establishing Centres of Excellence for Data, AI, and Automation, further solidifying his reputation as a thought leader.
