We are working with a leading global organisation who is seeking a Data Modeller for a daily rate contract running through to the end of June (with option for extension). Based in Melbourne CBD, the organisation is a hybrid model with two days per week in the office.
This position sits within a mature, large-scale data environment where structure, governance and long-term thinking are critical. You will play a key role in shaping and extending an enterprise Data Vault platform while working within clearly defined architectural standards.
You will be responsible for designing and evolving Data Vault 2.0 structures aligned to established enterprise standards and the Lead Modeller’s strategic roadmap. This is not a greenfield “do it your way” opportunity, it is about contributing to a disciplined, standards-driven platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and delivering to Data Vault 2.0 principles and enterprise standards
- Collaborating closely with Business Analysts and Data SMEs to deeply understand source systems and ensure seamless integration into the broader enterprise data architecture
- Maintaining highly detailed technical documentation, including end-to-end traceability artefacts as a core performance measure
- Integrating new source systems into an existing Data Vault while carefully considering long-term architectural impact and rework implications
- Participating in peer reviews, constructively challenging design decisions, and aligning to final architectural direction to ensure platform consistency
- We are looking for someone with experience:
- implementing Data Vault 2.0 within large, scaled enterprise environments, with strong understanding of business keys and their strategic importance
- Proven background in dimensional modelling, with clear understanding of its role in delivering user-facing analytical solutions
- Hands-on experience developing high-performing data models in Snowflake and cloud-based environments, including DBT
- Strong SQL capability, with the ability to demonstrate solutions and troubleshoot complex queries written by others
- Background across technical and business-facing data roles, enabling effective collaboration with both audiences
- Experience within Financial Services, ideally Superannuation, Insurance or Registry environments, with familiarity around core domain concepts such as members and claims
